2021–2024
The series of sculptures entitled Natural Matters is an attempt to reflect on the dialogue between man and matter – its resistance, energy and memory. Jan Musiałowski treats the materials he works with as living tissue, concealing strength and time. In his sculptures, the artist not only transforms the material, but also strives to reveal its internal dynamics: creation and decay. Brutal, demiurgic forms resemble collisions of elements, energies frozen in the frame of their transformation. Natural Matters presents sculpture as a synthesis of chaos and order, an attempt to capture the point at which the artist becomes an interpreter of matter speaking its own language.
